Prime Minister Modi met French President Macron at the G20 Summit to strengthen the India-France Strategic Partnership, focusing on defense, space, and AI. Both leaders also discussed regional issues and reforms in multilateralism.                             Rio de Janeiro-Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, on Tuesday, on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This was the third meeting between the two leaders this year, following President Macron’s visit to India as the Chief Guest for the Republic Day celebrations in January and their discussions at the G7 Summit in Italy in June.During the meeting, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the India-France Strategic Partnership, as well as their shared vision for bilateral cooperation and international collaboration, which is outlined in the Horizon 2047 roadmap and other bilateral declarations. They acknowledged the progress made in strategic areas such as defense, space, and civil nuclear energy, and committed to accelerating these efforts further, with a focus on reinforcing their shared commitment to strategic autonomy.Additionally, the leaders reviewed the progress of cooperation on India’s National Museum project. They also commended the strengthening of trade, investment, and technology ties, particularly in digital technology and Artificial Intelligence.2411190527535781_20241119053016_1 The two leaders expressed mutual support for the India-France partnership on Digital Public Infrastructure, with Prime Minister Modi welcoming President Macron’s initiative to organize the forthcoming AI Action Summit in France.Both leaders also exchanged views on key regional and international issues, including the Indo-Pacific, and reaffirmed their commitment to working together to reinvigorate and reform multilateralism in order to help build a more stable international order.
