New Delhi-The Rajasthani Academy, in association with the High Commission of Sri Lanka, successfully organised the Annual Family Picnic 2026 at the High Commission premises on Sunday, 11th January 2026, creating a vibrant and joyful Sunday afternoon filled with dance, music, and cultural celebrations. The event brought together families, diplomats, and distinguished guests in a warm and festive atmosphere that reflected the shared cultural harmony between India and Sri Lanka.Gopal’s 56, as the Event Partner, added a distinctive culinary and hospitality experience to the celebrations. Guests widely appreciated the exquisite delicacies and gracious service offered by Gopal’s 56, which enhanced the overall charm and comfort of the gathering.For the first time ever, the High Commission of Sri Lanka graciously opened its premises for a public cultural event, making the occasion both historic and meaningful. The venue was transformed into a colourful Rajasthani cultural landscape featuring traditional puppet shows, bioscope, bouncy activities for children, live bangle making, mehendi, tattoos, and a wide range of authentic Rajasthani experiences enjoyed by all.Addressing the gathering, Dr. Gaurav Gupta, President, Rajasthani Academy, expressed his sincere gratitude to the High Commission of Sri Lanka and observed that India and Sri Lanka are historically, culturally, and geographically close. He remarked that such initiatives play an important role in bringing the people of both nations together through meaningful cultural exchange.Her Excellency Ms. P. Pradeepa Mahishini Colonne, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka, warmly appreciated the Rajasthani Academy and Dr. Gupta for their commendable efforts in presenting an impressive Rajasthani cultural showcase and for fostering people-to-people connect through this unique initiative.The event was honoured by the presence of ambassadors and diplomats from Sri Lanka, Libya, Iran,
the Czech Republic, Bosnia, Egypt, the United States, and Madagascar, who joined in and enjoyed the cultural bonanza. Artists from Sri Lanka also presented engaging performances alongside Indian artists showcasing traditional Rajasthani dances, adding an international dimension to the celebrations.
A number of eminent personalities graced the occasion,
including BJP Patron Ms. Nupur Sharma, philanthropist Shri Dhiraj Dhar Gupta, Dr. Rashmi Saluja, Dr. Jai Madaan, Shri Ajay Bhai Ji, actress Ms. Avni Gupta, among many other distinguished guests.
The occasion also witnessed the elegant
release of the Rajasthani Academy Calendar 2026, beautifully printed by JK Offset, featuring the winning paintings from the 11th Rajasthani Painting Competition, celebrating young artistic excellence and cultural creativityThe event was supported by Lions Club Delhi Veg as the Support Partner and
