BANGKOK, THAILAND — On October 13, 2026, the Regional Financing Arrangements (RFAs) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) held their 11th Annual High-Level Dialogue in Bangkok, Thailand, convened alongside the IMF/World Bank Annual Meetings.Following recent severe flooding across Bangkok and surrounding areas, dialogue participants extended their sincere solidarity and sympathy to the Thai authorities and all affected communities.

​Global Macroeconomic Overview: Opening the session, IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva outlined the global economic landscape, emphasizing navigating policy challenges in an increasingly complex and uncertain international environment where fiscal buffers and policy spaces have diminished.
​Harnessing Artificial Intelligence: MD Georgieva highlighted the transformative potential of technological innovation, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), to drive productivity and long-term economic growth. She stressed the necessity of timely, proactive policy actions to unlock these economic benefits while managing emerging risks.
​Financial Stability & AI Implications: Delegations explored how AI and fintech advances enhance efficiency within the financial system while introducing new operational, systemic, and cyber vulnerabilities. Participants committed to rigorous monitoring and reinforced international cooperation to protect global financial stability.
​Institutional Upgrades: Delegations exchanged updates on key structural and policy reviews. The IMF presented progress on its comprehensive reviews aimed at modernizing surveillance, program design, financial sector assessments, debt analysis, and external sector assessments.
